Hello, Turkey.

We are Anonymous.

It has come to our attention that you are preparing to include the Redhack Team into the “Terror Organizations” list.

The group RedHack brought down the Turkish Foreign Ministry website yesterday morning, replacing its contents with pictures showing the Turkish prime minister embracing former Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad: “Ministry of War and Slavery, not Foreign Affairs.” A caption for the pictures read: “Brothers yesterday, enemies today”

Koru admitted the incident was due to a “weakness of security”. Seven people who are suspected of being members of RedHack are already under arrest.
The investigation into the group has reached a critical position.

The prosecutor who is already conducting a comprehensive investigation into the group, are preparing to include them into the “Terror Organisations” list. Prosecution Office confirmed in his report to the Anti-Terror Branch, that the group has a Marxist-Leninist manifesto. He has consulted the Anti-Terror branch if this group can be treated within the penal code as a terror organisation.

The RedHack team said:
Bro we are not worried about being arrested or killed, we think we still got lot to offer to the people of Turkey. Thats why we are worried. if we are wiped out this people will continue to suffer under the current fascist regime . At least now they see a hope in us. The people still need us.

The RedHack group are not sure of what the next few hours or days will hold for them.
We demand the cessation of these illegitimate attacks against RedHack. We demand the immediate release of innocent people who have nothing to do with RedHack.

We demand the cessation of these operations to instill fear into those who work to uncover truth. Anonymous will support RedHack, and everyone working in Turkey to tear down barriers to free information, until the end.

This support, we will show in every way we possess.
An attack on Redhack is an attack on free information, a free press, free expression and on Anonymous!

(English Subs) Redhack on Halk TV – Occupy Gezi & The Current State

This video has a clear image of what’s really happening  in Occupy Gezi

(This will be a 3 part series) This was made with the help of the author of this blog: http://redhackenglish.tumblr.com/ (I translated the first 12 minutes, the rest is 80% her work with some proof reading/tweaks by me). This Interview from Turkish Hacker group, Redhack, starts by explaining some of the background regarding the Occupy Gezi movement, and then proceeds to go into great detail regarding the Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s government and its shortcomings.

In this series Redhack will deal with issues like censorship, oppression, increasingly authoritarian rule, the selling of the nation’s natural resources, the diminishing state of the Arts, environmentalism, women’s rights, elections, and a myriad of other issues that most Turkish and International viewers will be under-informed about.

I have disabled comments as to avoid pointless debates, if you want to learn more about the issues discussed I’m sure a bit of digging around online will help you find answers. I want this to be purely educational, so just watch, and I hope you learn something. For international audiences, this can be a chance for you to understand just what is happening in Turkey, and you will no doubt be able to draw some parallels to the state of your own governments.

and how their increasingly oppressive and authoritarian mentality has caused a build up of unrest which exploded on May 31st, and is still spreading like wildfire across the nation.

I apologize in advance for any translation errors, but based on my proof-reading there should not be anything grossly mis-translated, if you spot anything that might be misinformative please send me a PM and I will try to add annotations to fix this.

Greetings Government of Turkey,

We are Anonymous.

We have watched for days with horror as our brothers and sisters in Turkey who are peacefully rising up against their tyrannical government have been brutalized, beaten, run over with riot vehicles, shot with water cannons and gassed in the streets. From the epicenter of their revolution in Taksim Square to every city in Turkey, the people have spoken. Hundreds of thousands have taken and held the streets for days, despite the relentless assault of the police. Thousands have been arrested. Where differ you exactly from a Junta!

Turkey is supposed to be a so called “modern” democracy, but the Turkish government behaves like the petty dictators in China or Iran. Anonymous is outraged by this behavior, and we will unite across the globe and bring the Turkish government to it’s knees. We will attack every internet and communications asset of the Turkish government. You have censored social media and other communications of your people in order to suppress the knowledge of your crimes against them. Now Anonymous will shut you down, and your own people will remove you from power.

We have seen in the past your totalitarianism the same as with Mubarak you know what happend to him don’t do this to ur own people bee wise and step down and let the people decide there fate.

To the people of Turkey No matter how dark it may seem, no matter how alone and abandoned you may feel know that the world is watching. Know that anonymous is working tirelessly around the clock to bring you every assistance., know that Anonymous stands with you in this fight. Don’t be ruled by them but rule over them “Think For Yourself, Question Authority” .

Anonymous declares #OpTurkey, attacks govt websites in support of protests

The hacktivist group Anonymous has taken down the Turkish President’s website, along with that of the country’s ruling party, as operation #OpTurkey kicks off in support of the anti-government protests that have entered their fourth day.

As of 22:40 GMT, the website of President Abdullah Gul has been offline, together with the website of the country’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), the websites for the Istanbul Directorate of Security and the Istanbul Governor’s Office.

The hacktivists earlier targeted municipal governments in Mersin and Izmir.

The operation was kicked off in response to the police crackdown of protests which have taken the country by storm. The Gebze Institute of Technology has also come under digital fire.

Following the rumors that the government limited access to the Internet Anonymous has started tweeting passwords to free access to a VPN – virtual private network that connects computers and devices in one network, allowing information to be shared.

The hacktivist group also claimed that pro-government hackers are attacking Turkish news websites.

Decrying the reaction of Turkish authorities to the ongoing protests as those of a “petty dictator,” Anonymous vows to kick off a worldwide action which will “bring the Turkish government to its knees.”

With #opTurkey, the hacktivist collective plans to “attack every Internet and communications asset of the Turkish government.”

“You have censored social media and other communications of your people in order to suppress the knowledge of your crimes against them,” the collective alleges. “Now Anonymous will shut you down and your own people will warn you from power.”

Although rumors that the Turkish authorities have been blocking Twitter, Facebook and other social media outlets throughout the country since Saturday remain unconfirmed, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan made no effort to hide his disaffection for the communication medium.

Turkey’s PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan has lashed out at the role of social media in helping organize and co-ordinate rallies, after the wave of large-scale protests that gripped the country.

“There is now a menace which is called Twitter,” Erdogan said in an interview for Haberturk Sunday evening. “The best examples of lies can be found there. To me, social media is the worst menace to society.”

Turkey has been gripped with mass demonstrations for the past three days. The ongoing rallies started with protests on Friday against the refurbishment of Istanbul’s Taksim Square, where the authorities plan to build a shopping center in place of a park. However,  the protests unfolded into anti-government demonstrations with thousands gathering all over the country. Riot police used ‘excessive force,’ officials admitted, to disperse the crowds with tear gas and water cannon. There have been about 1700 people reportedly arrested. Meanwhile, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Sunday stressed he “will not seek permission from marauders” to implement his building plans. He is also reported to have called the social network Twitter ‘a trouble maker’, according to local media, blaming it for misinforming people.

Protesters made fresh attempts to reach the Prime Minister’s office with at least 50 being arrested.

Reports also say dozens of homes were raided, and at least 25 people detained for using social media.

The internet has been used to share information and vent anger against the government.

Human rights groups and some foreign officials, including the US Secretary of State, have condemned the excessive use of force by Turkish police.

Turkey’s Prime Minister is looking unlikely to ease his hardline stance towards the swelling nationwide protest against him.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan says the movement’s illegal and accuses its members of brutality and provocation as he addressed a cheering crowd of his supporters after returning from a trip to North Africa.

Some of those who gathered at the airport chanted: ‘Let us go, let’s crush Taksim’.
